Biography of Anthony Martinez
A Father’s passed down talent and lack of opportunities is a inspiration for one tattoo/Airbrush artist Anthony Martinez known as A. Martinez. Born in Central America in the turbulent country of El Salvador, and growing up in the streets of Los Angeles around Santa Monica and Venice areas. A. Martinez knows all about struggle. The youngest of 7 children he moved in with his brother and sisters upon his initial arrival in Los Angeles. He had no role models and as a child chose the wrong road to life and got involved -in gang affiliation and landed him to do a few years at the California Youth Authority.
Anthony remembers as a young child in El Salvador sitting and watching his dad draw animal figures, his favorite was an owl. Alfonso (Anthony’s father) was a great artist but back then they had no artist recognitions, Anthony is destined and determined to pursue this special gift that has been passed on to him by his father. Anthony has set wheels for his dreams and is in motion.
As the years passed, this artist went from sketching to drawing and creating beautiful pieces of art, then discovered how to use the airbrush and started creating airbrush murals, shirts, hats and just about any piece of canvas he can get his hands on. He started showing his product years ago by going to local swap meets with a basic set-up of his framed artwork and seen how much people would compliment his artistic skills.
In 2008 he started “The Airbrush Studio” which features his custom airbrushing skills and provides live airbrush party entertainment throughout Southern California. He has built a client list and gets booked months ahead of time for public and private events. His airbrush artistry is very unique, he uses no stencils just freehand artwork which makes his artwork stand out from the crowd.
As a minor Anthony practiced tattooing with a homemade machine and as the years passed his skills have got better, He landed an apprenticeship at Venice tattoos and worked there as a tattoo artist for two years. This opportunity has launched his career as a tattoo artist and now providing professional custom tattoos in his own private studio in Palmdale. He has an extensive portfolio to show. Forever branching out and creating, Anthony came up with another endeavor. As this artist struggles to be discovered he came up with another idea of having his own clothing line. In may 2009 launched “A.M Style Fashion, INC” This unique fashion line will have custom hand drawn designs silkscreened on clothing and apparel. Coming soon and in the works is a vintage line and much more to come.
